Trick for Calculating Molarity

Research is filled with numbers- from activation energies to reaction rates.  While many of us can artfully dodge many of the gruesome equations associated with quantum mechanics or enzyme kinetics, one basic calculation remains inescapable.

Molarity.

In truth, there may not be a simpler calculation in all of science.  Sure it may take a little practice in the beginning, but given enough time with a calculator, it quickly becomes second nature.

Until we’re talking to someone- or worse, standing in front of a full seminar room- and our trusty calculator is no longer by our side.  Then the seemingly trivial molarity calculation becomes epic… Until now.

This little tip is easy- the best ones usually are.  In under two minutes, you’ll learn a fool-proof way for calculating molarity that will be sure to impress your friends.  Well, maybe your labmates.  OK, at least we’ll be impressed…
